Elk, also known as wapiti, are large deer that are native to North America and parts of Asia. They are similar in size and appearance to moose, but have a more slender build and different antlers. Elk are known for their distinctive bugling call, which is a high-pitched, vibrating sound that can be heard for long distances. The males use this call to attract females during the breeding season and to establish dominance over other males. Elk are herbivores and primarily feed on grasses, but they also eat shrubs, bark, and other plant material. They are found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and mountains.
